The Queens Hotel was built as an expansion of Markwell’s Hotel, opening in 1870. It stands on the site of the baths operated by Sake Dean Mahomed in the early 19th century.

Preston Circus Fire Station

Preston Circus Fire Station, 21 May 1938.

The fire station in the photograph was designed by Graeme Highet in an art deco style, and is made out of Portland stone and Preston brick. It was opened in 1938 by Earl Winterton.
