St Nicholas Church

The earliest reference to a church in Brighton is made in the Domesday Book of 1085. The Church of Saint Nicholas of Myra (the patron saint of sailors) in its current form dates back to around the mid-14th century.

St Mary de Haura Church

St Mary de Haura’s church was built in about 1103. Its founder, Philipe de Braose, was a Norman baron. He is believed to have established the church after returning from the First Crusade.
